  • Warrior’s heavy-duty FJ Cruiser Platform Rack features a low design (3 inches lower than the factory rack) to help those with clearance problems.
  • Strong and durable, this rack uses the factory mounting points and can hold up to 1000 lbs. PLEASE NOTE: Although this rack can support 1000lbs, the actual FJ Cruiser roof may not be able to support 1000lbs depending on load distribution.
  • Mounting points are constructed from 11 gauge steel with a black powder-coat finish and attach to the existing mounting holes. Hardware included.
  • The outer round tube around the perimeter of the rack measures 1-1/4″ while the square crossbars measure 1″.
  • Designed with an open front for an ideal place to mount lights without taking up space on the rack.
  • Dimensions measure at 89.5″ Long, 51-1/4″ wide, and 5″ high. Weight of rack is 90 lbs.
  • This Platform rack is designed to directly accept “Universal Mount” aftermarket cargo and sport accessories without the need for additional towers and crossbars or adaptors. The 3860 crossbars are 1” square on 8” centers (there is a 7” space between bars). This incremental 8” crossbar spacing should provide the necessary “Crossbar Spread” for most aftermarket bike, boat, ski, and cargo accessories. Please be mindful of any accessories such as some cargo boxes, or large boat mounts that drop down and occupy space between the crossbars as this will cause an interference condition.
  • The optional Off-Road Jack Mount, Shovel & Axe Mount, Awning Bracket, and Spare Tire Carrier are sold separately and also feature low-design mounting points.

What are the dimensions of the FJ Roof Rack? I cannot find them on your website…

    Thanks,

I have to say i love this rack but before i can pull the trigger on a purchase i need to confirm that it will work with my Yakima products.

1.) I have a Yakima Sky Box 16 that I can fit any size cross bar but i need to see the distance between each rung of the rack to allow the c clamp foot to open and fit the rack

2.) Yakima Fat Cat 6 ski snow board rack. Will it fit (rack has adaptors for square round and oval type cross bars

3.) Yakima bike rack has same fit kit of the fat cat.

So are the crossbar rungs square or rectangular? I have about 1000 bucks into Yakima product and want to ensure they will fit

    Thanks

      Hey Stephen,

The 3860 Platform rack is designed to accept “Universal mount” aftermarket accessories for crossbar applications. The 3860 crossbars are 1” square on 8” centers (there is a 7” space between bars). This should provide the necessary “Crossbar Spread” for all Yakima and Thule accessories.

The Yakima SkyBox, FatCat, and Bike Rack with Universal mounting schemes are designed to fit various crossbars that span a wide range of shapes and sizes, therefore they should all attach to the crossbars on the 3860 Platform rack without issue. The SkyBox has a flat bottom design that will not interfere with the crossbars located between the mounting clamps, be aware however that other models of cargo box (such as the older Yakima Blacktop series) have a dropped “belly” that would cause an interference condition between the front and rear mounting clamps of the cargo box.

The only interface that may present a slight challenge with the SkyBox is sliding the 4 clamps into position over the crossbars. Please verify that 7” opening between the crossbars will provide adequate clearance for the clamping mechanism. Also, to position the clamps over the crossbars, the SkyBox may require some “creative maneuvering” to slide the clamps into place. Typically if there is interference with this type of installation, there is some level of clamp disassembly/reassembly (unthreading and rethreading hardware) that can be done to get the clamps into position.

This sounds like a great setup! We would love to get feedback on the application of these accessories, and see a pic of the vehicle rack system complete with all accessories installed.

      Hope this helps!

      - Team Warrior

The square bars that will fit the yakima clamps are 7/8 of an inch by 1-1/4 inches. (hence thule size)

Can you confirm that the 3860 Platform Rack is compatible with the OEM XM Radio antenna mounted front/center on 2014 FJ Cruisers? It looks like there is a large opening in the rack structure directly over the antenna location. Is this opening specifically placed here so as not to interfere with XM radio reception, or is this just coincidental?

    • Jon Wolf Says: July 28, 2014 5:32 pm Reply

The opening is coincidental. We have not evaluated the rack for XM signal interruptions/degradation, however, there should be no physical interference between the antenna and the rack.
